Photo shoot Planning

For my magazine front cover we worked in groups of 3 and we had to go out around school and take different photos of ourselves and other people at school.
our different ideas were:

  • students standing in front of school holding a fake results paper jumping this shows the front of the school including the logo and also shows that the students were happy with there results and the were celebrating. This was a good idea for my front cover because it went with one of my headlines which was 'A-level results, why we're at the top'.
  • We also had an idea of taking pictures of year 7's to discuss how they were settling in, in 'big school', we wanted to have some year 7's stood in the middle of two year 11's to show how intimidating it could be for the younger students in a new environment and new school
  • Two students walking together smiling and interacting with each other to show that the in the school all the students got along and a long-shot of them could show the uniform and how well represented students from plantsbrook are at to give a little bit of background of the school.
  • A classroom with students and a teacher teaching a class, i wanted this because it would look good as a front cover because it would show that the school took education seriously that's why we have the best grades.it will also contrast with my main headline 'teachers speak out on unruly students' which will make readers wonder about how there would be unruly kids

final school magazine contents page

Final Cover of school Magazine

This is the final cover for my school magazine, I've choosen this photo because it shows a clear picture of a student from PlantsBrook who is also in my Media class sat outside on a bench smiling facing the camera. I felt this would be a good place to take the photograph for the front cover of my magazine because the background is not to crowded and focuses on the person. This immediately lets the reader know what the magazine is about and what age the magazine is aimed at. I felt it was important that the student on the front cover of my magazine was dressed fairly smartly and looked happy, this is because they are representing the school so they needs to look as if they are having a fun time at school. Headlines on my front cover tell people some of the things which are included in my magazine. For example interviews which are in the magazine and update news on the years a level result.

To make this magazine i used Fireworks, which is a software for making magazines, fireworks was an easy software to use and with help form my teacher i understood how to make shapes and logos for my magazine.
I had more than one picture i wanted to use for my front cover but after trying several photos i choose this photo because i thought it was the most appropriate photo.

Conventions of a contents page

The layout of this contents page is simple and plain. It has a picture of the artist the magazine is promoting which is Florence and the machine and the contents are around her, and not covering any part of her body or her face but yet still detailed
